CoinCoach never sells your data. We use it only to provide the service you signed up for: tracking your finances and powering your AI Coach.
1. Information We Collect
To use CoinCoach, we collect:
- Email address (for account creation and verification)
- Financial data you choose to enter — expenses, income, savings goals, recurring bills, and budget categories
- Chat messages you send to the AI Coach
- Receipt photos you choose to scan (processed in-session only and never stored — see Section 5)
We do not collect bank account details, credit card numbers, or any payment information. CoinCoach does not connect to your financial institutions.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Sync your data across your devices
- Generate personalized financial advice through the AI Coach
- Extract transaction data from receipt photos when you use the receipt scanning feature
- Send transactional emails (verification, password reset)
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Google Firebase (operated by Google LLC) using industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Access is restricted by Firebase Security Rules so that only you can read or modify your own data.
Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication. We do not have access to your password.
4. AI Coach and Anthropic
The AI Coach is powered by the Anthropic Claude API. When you send a message to the Coach:
- A summary of your financial data (totals, categories, budgets, and recent transactions) is sent to Anthropic to generate a relevant response
- Your email address and other personal identifiers are not sent
- Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy
5. Receipt Scanning
If you use the Pro receipt-scanning feature, the photo you take or upload is:
- Sent securely to Anthropic's Claude Vision API for one-time data extraction (merchant name, amount, date, and suggested category)
- Returned to your device for you to review and edit before saving
- Never stored on CoinCoach servers
- Discarded immediately after extraction completes
Only the structured data you choose to save (merchant name, amount, date, category) is stored in your account — never the image itself. Anthropic's handling of the image during processing is governed by their privacy policy at anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
6. Your Rights
You can:
- Export your data — open the Dashboard tab and tap "Export CSV"
- Delete individual records — edit or remove any transaction, goal, or budget category at any time
- Reset all data — open the Budgets tab → Danger Zone → "Reset All Data"
- Delete your account — open Settings (user icon) → Danger Zone → "Delete My Account". This permanently removes your account and all associated data from our systems.
7. Children
CoinCoach is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be communicated via email.
